MARTIAL arts classes are to be held by a television star in a bid to stop youths carrying knives.

Chris Crudelli, the black belt star of BBC3's Mind, Body and Kick Ass Moves, started a weekly martial arts class in Roberts Hall, Christ Church, Bexleyheath, yesterday.

The 35-year-old from Greenwich started the classes after being shocked by the surge of teenage killings across London.

The father of one said: "It's getting worse, the people carrying them are getting younger."

Classes in a combination of Kung Fu, Jujitsu and Judo are hoped to give kids the confidence to defend themselves without resorting to knives.

The course consists of two hour-long classes a week starting at 5.45 or 6.45pm, and cost a monthly fee of £40.
