SPORTS and film memorabilia belonging to comedy legend Bob Hope are due to be auctioned in Los Angeles next month.

More than 680 items including furniture, photographs and paintings, will be up for sale at the Julien's Auctions event on October 18 and 19.

The family of the late actor, who was born in Eltham, also plan to sell a collection of hats, suits and gifts he received from dignitaries.

Daughter Kelly Hope said she and her mother Dolores carefully selected the items that go on sale.

She said: "Our family is honoured to have the opportunity to revisit some of that life through the objects he collected and

treasured.

"When my father died, he left his cherished collection of over 11,000 items to her with the request that she see that these treasures be shared with the public, his fans."

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Bob & Dolores Hope Charitable Foundation.
