MP welcomes the news

Hundreds of young people in the Old Bexley and Sidcup constituency started apprenticeships in the second half of last year.

Some 310 people embarked on their training between August and January, out of a total of 2,920 since 2010.

Mr Brokenshire said: “These figures are fantastic news. Each new apprentice is a young person gaining the vital skills they need to enter into a successful career and fulfil their potential.

“We are very fortunate to have a number of excellent businesses locally which take on apprentices and several excellent apprenticeship providers.”
