Two best friends have moved from a Yeovil residential college to their own home in Welling.

Tammara Allen and Katy Neil moved into the Hook Lane supported service, run by care provider Regard, and are now attending local colleges.

The support service is provided to help young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism make the transition from residential college, foster care or the family home.

The 22 year olds have both spent the last three years at Lufton College in Yeovil, but have moved to Welling and are now closer to their families.

Service manager Folahan Adebowale said: “We thought it might a take a few weeks for the girls to settle down and get used to the challenge of looking after themselves but they’ve completely surprised us.

“They both settled in straight away and seem to be thriving in the communal atmosphere at Hook Lane.

“They are really lively, bubbly friendly girls and are a delight to be around. They have made friends with everyone here and they make a really sociable group which is great to see.”
