The 18-year-old woman fell to her death this morning


An 18-year-old girl has plunged to her death from the 17th floor of a tower block in Woolwich this morning.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission have been informed and their investigators are at the scene this afternoon and are speaking to witnesses.

Police were called to the tower block on Mulgrave Road at 9.30am “to carry out an arrest inquiry regarding a recall to prison” said the Met Police

The girl fell from a bedroom window shortly after and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is being held in custody at a south London police station.

Police are still awaiting formal identification of the woman and they have not released details of when a post-mortem will be held.

The Met Directorate of Professional Standards has also been informed.
