A fire that damaged three houses in Erith on Friday is under investigation.

Seven people, including an elderly woman, escaped the terraced homes in Canada Road as the fire took hold shortly before 1am.

THe elderly woman managed to flee before the fire brigade arrived and was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics.

Around 35 firefighters from Erith, Woolwich, Greenwich and Bexley stations tackled the blaze, which was under control by 1.30am.

One house was badly damaged by fire on the ground and first floors and the roofs of all three properties were burnt.
