Old Bexley and Sidcup MP James Brokenshire has met with South London Healthcare Trust’s new administrator to urge her to press ahead with plans for Queen Mary’s Hospital.

He visited Caroline Taylor is concerned reforms have been delayed by legal action against the decision to scrap Lewisham Hospital’s A&E.

Under the current plans the Sidcup hospital would be transferred to the Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and the hospital would also provide services for other hospitals such as King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’s.

Mr Brokenshire said: “The current court challenges may have caused some of the other hospitals to be paused but we need to get on with the Queen Mary’s plan.

“Work to secure the long-term future of the hospital is advancing but it’s important focus and momentum are maintained.”
