Lanes have reopened but delays are still long on the A2 London-bound following a five vehicle pile-up.

Highways England earlier stated that three of four lanes were closed between junction A2260 and the M25 - these have since reopened, but traffic is still slow moving.

Firefighters had to free a man who was trapped, and he was passed to paramedics, who also attended to one further casualty.

A Kent Police spokesperson, said: “Officers were called at 11.26am on Monday, July 24, following a report of a five car collision on the A2 London-bound near Dartford.

“Officers are currently at the scene alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue.

“No serious injuries have been reported.”

The road is not expected to be clear until between 2.45pm and 3pm, and normal traffic conditions aren’t expected until 3.45pm to 4pm.

A spokesperson said: “There are currently delays of 50 minutes against expected traffic. Please make sure you take extra time to make your journeys or look for alternative routes.”
