LABOUR have held Erith and Thamesmead

LABOUR have held Erith and Thamesmead

Teresa Pearce, who is replacing John Austin, has received 19068 votes.

Colin Bloom, the Conservative candidate received 13365 votes and the Liberal Democrat candidate Alex Cunliffe received 5116.

Teresa Pearce said: "I feel exhausted physically and emotionally. It hasn't quite sunk in yet.

"We managed to get people to engage and vote, and if the turnout had been low, it would have been difficult.

"It shows a desire, the people want things to change."
