An injury-time winner ensured Thamesmead Town won a seventh straight league game on Saturday, keeping them second in the table.

Chris Edwards grabbed the glory in a 2-1 win at Waltham Forest in the Ryman League North.

It completed an excellent second-half turnaround - the home side had been one goal in front at the break through Jack Leachman.

Talisman Lea Dawson equalised just after half-time before Edwards clinched all three points in the 93rd minute.

Mead have not failed to win in the league since losing at home to Cheshunt on December 16.

Manager Tony McMahon was rewarded with the league’s manager of the month award for Janaury and they remain 10 points behind leaders Maldon and Tiptree with a game in hand.

Thamesmead will look to keep their excellent run going at home to Potters Bar Town on Saturday (23).
