PARKING inspectors are often hate figures, but at least they can only ticket people with cars – unlike a TV licence inspector recently jailed for fining people who don t even own a television.

Oluwagbenga Olaniyan, 45, turned to deception when told he could lose his job unless he nailed enough telly-bandits.

As a result, The People reported that four homes in Sidcup and one in his home town of Gravesend had court summons float through their letterboxes - with a threat of a £1,000 fine.

Maidstone Crown Court gave Olaniyan 40 weeks in the slammer where the former tax enforcer will get to see plenty of TV thanks to, yep, taxpayers' money.
