London 2012 Olympic Games schedule released

The schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games has been published but fans have to wait until next month to get their hands on tickets.

The 6.6million tickets go on sale on Tuesday, March 15, with applications closing on Tuesday, April 26, before all oversubscribed sessions are allocated via a ballot.

The equestrian events in Greenwich Park, the gymnastics at the O2 arena in North Greenwich and the shooting events at the Woolwich Barracks are all due to begin on Saturday, July 28 2012.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world’s greatest athletes going for gold in the UK ­— a chance for people to see their favourite sport and perhaps try a new one.”

Tickets for the 
Paralympic Games will go on sale on Friday, September 9 and prices are due to be announced in May.

Prices start at £20 and there are special rates for young people and seniors.
