LOVE and laughter was revealed to be in clear demand last week as the Kentish Times received its first blind date entries.

Your Kentish Times has arranged for singles from Bexley, Bromley, Gravesend, Dartford, Swanley and Greenwich to enjoy a free blind date before Valentines Day.

ALL ages can enter our romantic match-making competition, and so far we've had responses in our under-35s and over-50s categories.

Carole, from Welling, applied for an over-50s date by sending in a photo of herself dressed to the nines for an Abba night.

She said her partner would have to have lots of stories to tell. Meanwhile David, 51, from Abbey Wood, said his most interesting talent was his Swedish massage, and that his family and friends are the most important things to him.

Another 27-year-old lonely heart said on his perfect date his partner "would find me attractive instead of see me as a friend".

There is still time to enter our Valentine's Competition to win a chance of a romantic evening free of charge.

Our couples will be treated to a meal and bottle of wine at one of six restaurants - Bar de Museé in Greenwich, Caligulette in Bromley, Acropolis in New Eltham, Bartellas in Meopham, Truffles Restaurant in Rowhill Grange, Wilmington or The Ship Inn in Southfleet. Successful participants will be introduced on the night and have their picture taken by a Times photographer before being left to a romantic date.

To enter, tell your potential date as much about yourself by answering these three questions:

l What three things would happen on your perfect date?

l What is your most interesting talent?

l What is the most important thing in your life and why?

Send your answers along with your name, address, telephone number and, if possible, a recent photo of yourself to: Blind Date Competition, News Desk, Kentish Times, Roxby House, Station Road, Sidcup, DA15 7EJ. You can also email entries to
