A VIOLENT two-timer attacked his girlfriend in front of their young daughter because she would not return his calls, a court heard.
Aaron Southwell, 28, of Rudds Close, Woolwich, repeatedly kicked Lorraine Meehan, breaking her arm, threatened her with a knife and left her with a head wound so horrific her skull was visible.
Jailing him for seven years for grievous bodily harm with intent at Blackfriars Crown Court last Friday, Judge Henry Blacksell QC said: "You have a history of violence against women. I have no idea what women see in you."
Southwell already has convictions for assaulting Ms Meehan and an ex-partner.
The incident took place at Ms Meehan's flat in Islington on April 30 this year.
Southwell convinced his current girlfriend to lie in court that she was with him at the time of the attack but the jury were not convinced and found him guilty at a trial last month.
Sentencing, Judge Blacksell said: "For whatever reason, it may be as trivial as this woman not returning your calls, you took yourself over to where this woman and your child were resident.
"It was a most sustained and brutal attack. You pulled her by her hair, kicked her badly. She suffered the most dreadful wound to the back of her head so her skull was showing, and you broke her arm.
"You took absolutely no notice of your young child, this violence took place in front of her. You have no shame. You still claim you are not the person. You called someone to give evidence who came to be your partner to say you were with her.
"You then gave evidence on oath to say you were seeing the victim behind your partner's back."
Southwell denied the charge but was convicted by the jury.
