Man falls down manhole in Sidcup

A man had to be lifted out by a rope after he fell down a manhole.

The cover for the Thames water manhole in Chipperfield, Sidcup, was suspected to have been stolen when a man fell into the five metre deep pit at around 7.30pm on Monday.

The man was stuck for half an hour before he was rescued by the Sidcup fireservices.

It is reported he had some broken bones but was not seriously injured.
