Man in custody after reports of items being thrown from roof in Slade Green Road

The road was closed in the early hours of Friday morning

A man has been arrested after reports that items were being thrown from a roof in Erith on Friday morning.

Police claim the man was threatening to self-harm and had a knife.

Whilst at the scene, police claim he “threw a number of objects towards them”.

Paramedics with London Ambulance Service were also on scene.

A spokesperson from the police said: “At 8.28am a 40-year-old man was arrested for affray and criminal damage.

“He has been taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.”

The road was closed in the early hours of this morning.

Bus route number 89 is currently being diverted away from the scene.
