A man who died after falling into a frozen lake in Danson Park, Welling, has been named as Stephen Cavanagh.

Mr Cavanagh, believed to be in his 60s, fell into the lake on Wednesday afternoon and emergencry service crews pulled him from the pool at 3.55pm.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the man was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Earlier reports that he had been in the lake trying to rescue a dog were denied by London Ambulance Service.
