A CHEQUE for more than £27,000 was handed to an Alzheimer s charity by a former mayor.

A CHEQUE for more than £27,000 was handed to an Alzheimer's charity by a former mayor.

Councillor Nick O'Hare, whose term as Mayor of Bexley ended in May, gave the cheque to the Alzheimer's Society Bexley branch at the annual dinner and dance at the Westwood Masonic Centre in Welling, last Saturday.

Mr O'Hare promoted the charity through his term, having chosen it as his charity of the year.
