A MAN who escaped a mental health hospital after being charged with aggravated burglary has been found by police.

A MAN who escaped a mental health hospital after being charged with aggravated burglary has been found by police.

John Slavin, 44, was arrested at a home in Bexleyheath on Tuesday at approximately 1.30pm after being on the run for a week.

Slavin, along with fellow inmate John Claydon who is charged with a murder, escaped the Springfield Hospital, Glenburnie Road, Wandsworth on November 18 at approximately 10.20pm.

Claydon was found last Friday in Hampton Road, Twickenham.

Both men are on remand and being assessed for mental health conditions while at the hospital.

Slavin is originally from the Bristol area and was known to frequent Aberdeen.

He was charged with aggravated burglary and remanded in custody on March 27 to attend Southwark Crown Court on May 30 before being transferred to Springfield hospital.
