A MAN has been arrested and bailed by police after his car smashed into a mobility scooter killing its 81-year-old driver.

A MAN has been arrested and bailed by police after his car smashed into a mobility scooter killing its 81-year-old driver.

The 44-year-old man, from Mottingham, was arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst driving whilst disqualified and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Kent Police's serious crash investigation unit is investigating the cause of the collision, which happened on February 24 in Watling Street, Dartford.

The man's black Ford Focus car is thought to have hit the pensioner's scooter on the busy street at about 4pm.

Although the elderly victim was airlifted to Romford Hospital, Essex, he died from his injuries two days later.
