One lucky person won a prize

The 40,000th person to sign up to Bexley council’s garden waste recycling scheme has won free garden waste collection for the next year.

The number of residents using the £33 service, which offers residents 240 litre garden recycling bin and 25 fortnightly collections, now rests at 40,050.

Cabinet member for community safety, environment and leisure, Peter Craske, said: “We made sure the cost of the new service is the lowest in London at just £1.32 per collection and our residents recognise that it’s good value for money.”
