ARTISTS have joined residents to create mosaics for a community centre.

North Cray Neighbourhood Centre, in Davis Way, Sidcup, invited some 50 people to work with the Arts Council for Bexley (ACB) to create the small works.

Artists William Hudson and Jill Newman guided Nursery and Asian User Groups from the North Cray Community Centre in the month-long project.

Chair of ACB, Councillor John Davey, said "We were pleased to get a grant from 'Awards for All' to enable this project to go forward.

"The project aimed to bring people together in achieving a lasting work of art and to take pride in their local area."

The neighbourhood centre, which has a sports hall and boxing club, saw the mosaics unveiled on April 20 by Bexley councillors.
