New trees to be grown in Bexley

PUBLISHED: 10:29 23 October 2012

A programme to plant 235 new trees in the borough has been approved by Bexley Council.

During 2011/12, 245 street trees were removed because of poor health, storms and traffic accidents.

Priority will be given to streets which have requested a sapling through the council’s Adopt a Tree scheme.

Councillors can request up to three new trees in their wards. The council says trees develop biodiversity and help to boost neighbourhoods.
