Nine people escape from Thamesmead fire

Two houses damaged

Three adults and six children escaped from a fire in Thamesmead which damaged two terraced houses yesterday afternoon.

Around 20 firefighters were called to Carronade Place after the fire started in an alleyway between two homes just before 2.45pm.

A conservatory, the roofs of both homes, two sheds and a wooden fence were damaged, but fortunately no-one was hurt.

Crews had the fire under control by 4.30pm. The cause is unknown.
