AN EIGHT storey office block has been given the go ahead to be built next to a world-famous arena.

Greenwich council's planning board approved the application for the office block to the south of the O² Arena in Greenwich Peninsula.

This will create some 700 office jobs and more than 100 retail jobs.

The 40-metre high office block approved last Wednesday will have more than 18,600 square metres of office floorspace, and more than 2,000 square metres of floorspace for restaurants and shops.
