Passes may expire by March but delivery can take weeks

Older people are being reminded to renew their Freedom Pass before they expire, with postage for new passes taking weeks.

Nearly 5000 Freedom Passes for elderly and disabled people will expire on March 31, but postage time for new passes can take up to four weeks.

Those with expiring passes should receive a letter in the coming weeks.

Leader of Bexley Council, Teresa O’Neill said: “We spend £8million a year to pay for Freedom Passes for our residents - which shows our commitment to supporting local people to live as independently as possible.”
