TOURISM at a town due to host 2012 Olympic Games events has received a further round of funding.

TOURISM at a town due to host 2012 Olympic Games events has received a further round of funding.

Greenwich town centre secured a third major boost last week when the government pledged £700,000 towards a tourism centre at the Old Royal Naval College.

By the time the Olympic equestrian events come to Greenwich in 2012, the town is due to see the reopening of the Cutty Sark, the redevelopment of Greenwich Market and expansion of the National Maritime Museum.

The Old Royal Naval College's £5million tourist centre, Discover Greenwich, will be sited in the Pepys Building, near the Cutty Sark.

It will include an education centre for school groups and a temporary gallery.

A brasserie, run by Charlton-based Meantime Brewery, will open at the site's former brewery, which dated back to 1717.
