A PAEDOPHILE has admitted raping an 11-year-old girl after luring her back to his flat.

Omololu Babatunde, 29, from Edge Hill, Woolwich, admitted raping then later threatening to kill his victim if she told anyone, at Woolwich Crown Court last Wednesday.

Unemployed Mr Babatunde met his victim in an alleyway near Herbert Road, Woolwich, last November as she walked to the shops.

Mr Babatunde occasionally gave money to the girl and this time persuaded her to walk back to his flat where he raped her.

He tried to cover his tracks by later threatening to kill his victim if she told anyone of her ordeal. DC Shelly Phillips, of Greenwich Police's sexual assault squad, said: "The crime that he committed has left a young girl extremely distressed.

"I would like to praise the victim and her family for the assistance they provided."

Officers of the Sapphire team tracked the rapist down knowing only that he called himself 'Baba'.

Mr Babatunde is due to be sentenced on September 5.
