A RAPIST who violently attacked a woman at a party has been jailed for six years.

Vytautas Jasionis, 54, of Avondale Square, Southwark raped and beat a woman at a party in Ruston Road, Plumstead.

He was jailed last Friday at Woolwich Crown Court and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Police were called to the address at 8am on Sunday, November 2 last year where a 32-year-old woman reported that Jasionis had bundled her into a room, threatened and beaten before he raped her.

He then forced her to sign a note saying she would not tell anyone what had happened to her.

Jasionis was arrested in April when he reported to Plumstead police station after he was made aware that officers were trying to trace him.

Detective Constable Nic Sargant from the Met Police's Sapphire Unit, said: "Jasionis is a violent rapist who subjected his victim to a terrifying ordeal. I praise the victim for her courage and strength and hope that she will be able to move on.
