A POET helped children step back in time during a series of local history workshops.

Malika Booker led eight workshops focused on the

history of Crayford and the £2 million regeneration

of the Waterside Gardens using poetry inspired by the area. Ms Booker also helped pupils from St Paulinus C of E, Mayplace and Barnes Cray schools develop their own poetry writing skills.

She said: "The project illustrates just how well

poetry works with history and I am so pleased to

be able to inspire the pupils to write such wonderful poems." Waterside Gardens is being redeveloped as part of a

regeneration scheme.
