London Fire Brigade was also called to the scene

A group of males, one alleged to be carrying a knife, escaped police capture yesterday after a fight broke out in Erith.

Despite the reports, officers arriving on the scene said there was “no one at the location” along the busy road.

A spokesperson from Met Police confirmed “No one was found injured, a motorcycle was found alight at the scene.”

Motorists heading past the scene could see the bike burning in one lane of the dual carriageway.

London Fire Brigade received seven calls from passers-by and arrived minutes after police, spending around 30 minutes putting out the flames.

An LFB spokesperson said one fire engine was sent to the scene, which left at 7.20pm.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
