Police make fifth arrest in Syrian terrorism funding investigation

The suspect remains in police custody

A man in his 20s is in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of a terror offence earlier today (Friday).

The 26-year-old from south east London was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to provide terrorist funding.

The arrest was part of the Met’s ongoing investigation into the funding of terrorism in Syria.

Four other people have been previously arrested on suspicion of the same offence, including a 23-year-old man from south east London.

All four have been bailed to return to a police station in mid-January.
