Ben Cowen faces a misconduct review

A serving police constable has been placed on restricted duties after being found guilty of assault.

Ben Cowen had pleaded not guilty to actual bodily harm at Bexley Magistrates Court.

On Wednesday, the 37-year-old was found guilty of common assault.

Cowen walked away with a conditional discharge for one year and fined £775. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20.

He was arrested on Thursday, July 14, after assaulting a 31-year-old man at an address in Bexley.

The Lewisham-based police officer now faces a misconduct review with Met Police.
