Police seek witness to Welling sexual assault

Police in Bexley are seeking a potential witness to a sexual assault in Welling last weekend.

On Saturday (March 30) a woman was grabbed from behind and indecently assaulted at around 8.45am in Upper Wickham Lane, on the corner of Springfield Road.

A passer-by intervened and told the attacker to get away, who walked off in the direction of Bellegrove Road and was later arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

A 35 year old man has been bailed pending further police enquiries and they are keen to trace the passer-sby.

He is described as an elderly gentleman with a grey beard. He was walking a dog at the time.
