NO action is being taken against a retired PC and a 53-year-old police worker arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation to the Stephen Lawrence murder investigation.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) announced their decision on Monday following the winding down of their review into the investigation into the racist murder in Eltham in 1993.

The pair were arrested on December 17 last year by IPCC investigators who were looking into the concerns raised by an internal Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) review.

The MPS review discovered material from 1993, which allegedly had not been disclosed to either the Kent inquiry in 1997 or the Macpherson Inquiry.

Investigators from the IPCC were also looking into whether this material was considered by the original investigation and will publish their findings once their investigation is over.
