Vote Taking Care of Thamesmead to help its bid to win community funding
A Thamesmead project is calling on residents to get behind its bid to win to win £25,000 from The Aviva Community Fund.
The cash from the insurance giant’s fund offers support and funding to inspirational local projects in communities throughout the UK.
If Trust Thamesmead’s Taking Care of Thamesmead is successful it could help thousands of the area’s young people to get a better start in life by inspiring them to get involved in activities that will benefit their health and wellbeing.
This could be through sport sessions or Thamesmead-wide primary school tournaments, which will take place at Thamesmead’s newest leisure and sporting venue, Sporting Club Thamesmead and schools across Thamesmead.
Trust Thamesmead is part of the Peabody Group and manages Thamesmead’s newest leisure and sporting venue, Sporting Club Thamesmead which offers a range of fitness activities to all ages.
The trust is also a partner in Now’s the Time, a three-year project which offers affordable fitness activities for just £1 from different venues across Thamesmead.
Peabody’s chief executive Stephen Howlett said: “By voting for Taking Care of Thamesmead, you will be helping thousands of young people to understand the importance of physical activity which can often lead to not only preventing certain illnesses and prolonging lives but helping young people to gain confidence and reach their full potential in life.
“We’ve won public votes before, Thamesmead. With your help, we can do it again.”
