Poor away form continues for Thamesmead

PUBLISHED: 11:56 19 November 2012

Thamesmead Town’s poor away form continued as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Grays Athletic on Saturday (17).

Mead have won just one away game in Ryman Division One North, and that record never looked like improving when Joe Sweeney put the Essex side ahead after 12 minutes.

Within 10 minutes Joao Carlos had extended Grays’ lead

The visitors had their chances, most notably falling to Lea Dawson, but they could not claw their way back into the game.

As time was running out the home side took advantage of Mead pouring forward to clinch the three points, with Jack West scoring their third goal from a counter attack.

Defeat sees Thamesmead remain in sixth but their away form will have to improve if they are to mount a promotion challenge.

In contrast, the home form in the league has seem them win six and lose one so far this season.

Mead will hope these home comforts continue against 14th-placed Waltham Forest at Bayliss Avenue on Saturday (24).
