Eco Communities, who specialise in the reuse and recycling computer equipment, will be responsible for the daily running of the new community facility, subject to a public cabinet decision.

The Howbury Centre is part of an £8.5million investment in Slade Green.

Cllr Don Massey, cabinet member for leisure, said: “This is one of the largest investment programmes the Council has undertaken in recent years.

“It is a really exciting time for the people of Slade Green. These new facilities are a fantastic opportunity for residents of all ages and interests to enjoy excellent facilities on their doorstep at affordable prices. Eco Communities will enhance what is on offer to the community.”

The facility will include: outside multi-use games area, community library, including IT suite, smaller hall, four other rooms and a kitchen.
