A FATHER has been hospitalised whilst trying to save his son's friend from racist yobs.

The 39-year-old from Welling drove to New Road, Welling, at 6.30pm on Saturday, April 8, after getting a call for help from his 19-year-old son.

The teenager was walking along the road with a black male friend aged 20 and a white female friend of a similar age.

Racial abuse had been hurled at the trio from five or six white 18-year-old men in a black VW Golf.

When the father appeared on the scene, the group got out the car and used bats and a cosh to severely vandalise his car.

They then set upon him and his son leaving the father with cuts above his eye needing hospital treatment and his son with a cut to the back of his head.

The attackers, described only as wearing casual clothing, then returned to the Golf and made off towards Upper Wickham Lane.
