MAYOR Boris Johnson got caught in the rain making a last minute dash around outer London on polling day, last Thursday

MAYOR Boris Johnson got caught in the rain making a last minute dash around outer London on polling day, last Thursday.

The victorious Tory was spotted canvassing at 2pm in Sidcup High Street, the day before he was elected to run City Hall with almost 150,000 more votes than Ken Livingstone.

Sporting his shorter and more serious haircut, Mr Johnson was unsurprised by his strong support in Bexley, but added he would not be able to rest until he knew the election results.

He said he had voted, but declared his second mayoral preference was "between me and my inner demons".

Student Jo Harris, 26, from Sidcup, said: "I'm not going to vote but I like the look of Boris. He wasn't acting like a clown - he was very down to earth.

"He was very nice and charming, but his hair isn't as yellow in real life."

After a brief handshake with Sidcup workers taking lunch, Mr Johnson took a red Routemaster bus emblazoned with 'vote Boris' towards Bromley.
