A LORRY driver who smashed through gardens has received a £75 fine. Vasile Pricope, 42, from Mitchum, Surrey, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and was fined and ordered to pay £45 costs and £15 victim surcharge at Bexley Magistrates Court, on Monday.

Witnesses described the scene in Manor Road, Erith, as "complete devastation" after the lorry ploughed through five gardens demolishing a street light, bins and garden walls on Saturday at about 4.30pm. Nobody was injured.
