A FATHER accused of indecently assaulting a child faces a retrial after a jury could not reach a majority verdict.

A FATHER accused of indecently assaulting a child faces a retrial after a jury could not reach a majority verdict.

Clifford Maughan-Taylor, 44, of Wansunt Road, Bexley, was granted conditional bail on Monday at Blackfriars Crown Court after his trial resulted in a hung jury.

He was accused of sexually abusing a girl from the age of six to ten.

At a hearing last Wednesday Judge Aiden Marron QC ordered a retrial which is due to take place next year on July 6.

Mr Maughan-Taylor has been bailed for £20,000 and ordered to not make any contact with any of the prosecution witnesses, to be under curfew between 9.30pm until 7am, to report to Bexleyheath police station on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and to surrender his passport.
