Welling United capitalised on a decimated Conference South fixture list to extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points with victory at Truro City on Saturday (23).
The 3-0 win was won of only two games to beat the weather and two goals from top scorer Ross Lafayette made the difference.
Theo Fairweather-Johnson capitalised on a rare start to give the Wings the lead after 19 minutes, latching on to a through ball from Jake Gallagher and firing into the corner.
Bottom of the table Truro battled hard and almost equalised when Andy Watkins hit the inside of the post from close range with Ben Martin the first player to the loose ball.
Lafayette doubled the lead just before half-time. Lee Clarke brought a smart save out of Luke Payne but Lafayette scored from the rebound.
Welling wrapped up the win with 25 minutes to go when Anthony Acheampong was tripped in the penalty area.
With Joe Healy injured Lafayette took on spot kick responsibilities and his effort just about trickled in off the post despite the best efforts of Payne for his 17th league goal of the season.
Welling are next in action on Good Friday at home to Chelmsford City when they can increase their lead at the summit to 12 points.
