People are being encouraged to enter the second ever Thamesmead 5k run, which is set to take place in September.

The event will raise funds for the Bexley and Greenwich Community Hospice who offer specialist palliative care for residents in both Bexley and Greenwich boroughs.

Runners will set off at 10am on Saturday, September 24 from Sporting Club Thamesmead in Bayliss Avenue, continuing through Crossway Park and Southmere Park before returning to Sporting Club Thamesmead.

There will also be a Family One Mile race open to people of any age and ability to run, jog or walk. Participants will receive a medal and goody bag on the day.

Last year’s event was a big success, with more than 90 runners taking part and £400 raised for the charity.

Entry before the day of the event is £5 per person or £15 for a team of four, and £1 for the Family One Mile.
