Workers took part in a number of fundraising events including cake sakes and sale of plants

Sainsbury’s Bexleyheath is celebrating after raising £10,975 for Comic Relief.

Colleagues took part in a variety of fundraising events during the weeks leading up to Red Nose Day, which took place on March 24.

Activities included cake sale, guess weight of cake, sale of plants, and sale of handmade card to customers.

Mani Powar, store manager, said: “Our customers and colleagues are always keen to raise as much as possible for Red Nose Day and come up with lots of fun and creative ways to do it.

“I’m really proud that we’ve been able to contribute to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury’s to Comic Relief.”

On Red Nose Day, Sainsbury’s announced it had raised £11.6 million for the charity with more funds still to be collected.
