A FATHER Christmas parade is expected to take place as the town's festive lights are switched on in a bid to raise funds for a hospice.

Bexleyheath Town Centre's Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm on Sunday, November 29, by Mayor of Bexley, Bernard Clewes MBE.

But an hour before, a Santa parade will take place to raise money for Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice in Bostall Woods, Abbey Wood.

Although last year organisers were unsuccessful in their world record attempt the event attracted 1,019 Santas and this year they are hoping to double the numbers.

The parade will begin from Bexleyheath Town Park, alongside Christ Church and left on to Broadway towards the Clock Tower.

Entry forms are available to download from www.cottagehospice.org.uk, and from the hospice's reception, hospice's charity shops and at the Mall's Ask Me Point in Bexleyheath.

Registration costs £10 for over 16 and over and £5 for children aged five to 15. The registration fee includes a free Santa suit, which will be ready for collection from the Ask Me Point in the Mall.

The day will also include a Christmas market from 11am until 6pm, live music.
