FUNDRAISERS hope to smash the world record for gathering the most 'Santas' in one place.
Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice want people dressed as Father Christmas to gather in Bexleyheath town centre for the switching on of the Christmas lights on Sunday, November 23.
Organisers hope to beat the current Guinness World Record for Santas in one place, set by 3,921 people in Liverpool City Centre in 2005.
Susan Adams, the hospice's community fundraiser, said: "As long as everyone gets involved we'll do it. But they have the register first!
Participants will be given individual numbers and march through the town centre at 4pm as a prelude to the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Stalls and family entertainment will be available in the town centre between 1pm and 6pm.
Registration will cost £10 per adult and £5 for children aged five to 15. Participants will receive a Father Christmas costume in the post. Small businesses are hoped to join in by sponsoring the event or helping with fundraising. Call the hospice's community fundraiser Susan Adams on 020 8319 9235 or 07958 994 142 to register, or go to the Ask Me point in Bexleyheath Mall.
