SWINE flu has hit a private girls' school after pupils returned from a trip to France.

Two Year 6 junior pupils at Blackheath Girls School in Wemyss Road, Blackheath contacted the virus after returning from a residential week in France last Friday (June 26).

Parents of pupils aged three to 18 have been requested by Head Teacher Lisa Laws to keep children at home if they have flu-like symptoms.

But the school has remained open, as advised by the Health Protection Agency.

Ms Laws said attendance has dropped in Year 6 but it has not affected other year groups.
