A person has died after being hit by a train at Welling station.

Services are currently not running on the Bexleyheath line.

The incident happened today (November 28) between Barnehurst and Blackheath.

Southeastern posted a Tweet about the incident, saying: “No trains on Bexleyheath line because of a person hit by a train.

“Trains may be delayed, diverted or cancelled. You can use your ticket on London Buses: Dartford - Lewisham. DLR: Lewisham - Greenwich - Woolwich and Underground between our London terminals at no extra cost.”

A spokesman from the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Welling station at 11.30am this morning following reports a person had been struck by a train.

“Paramedics also attended and sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are currently working to identify them and establish the circumstances behind their death.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
