The council is appealing for the public’s help to hunt down a criminal who left a trail of rubbish down a residential road.

A CCTV camera in Heath Way, Northumberland Heath, recorded a person driving along the road just after 5am on Wednesday morning, but was not clear enough to capture its registration number.

The vehicle, which the council has described as a ‘Transit-type open back tipper, had its body up, tipping its load along the carriageway.

A council spokesperson said: “The borough has experienced a number of incidents of fly-tipping over recent weeks and has installed a security camera in one location, in an effort to identify the culprit.

“We want to prosecute the person responsible for this latest and shocking incident. If you saw anything, or recorded the incident on your home CCTV, please contact the Council on 020 3045 4612 or email”
